While Ohioans do need an ID to vote using a regular ballot on election day, it does NOT have to be a photo ID. Any of the following options will suffice:
A current and valid photo identification card issued by the State of Ohio or the United States government; or
A military identification (“military ID”); or
An original or copy of a current utility bill; or
An original or copy of a current bank statement; or
An original or copy of a current government check; or
An original or copy of a current paycheck; or
An original or copy of a current other government document, other than a voter registration acknowledgement notification mailed by the board of elections, that shows the voter’s name and current address.
It is also important to note that your driver's licenses doesn't need to show your current address. As long as your ID hasn't expired and your current address is printed on the official poll list, you can still vote a regular ballot.
So when would a provisional ballot come into play? If forget your ID the polling location must still allow you to vote with a provisional ballot. It won't be counted on election day, so you want to avoid provisional voting if possible.
Don't let anyone try to force you to vote provisionally just because your driver's licenses address isn't current.
Polls are open from 6:30am to 7:30pm on Election Day.
